Forward, March!
Have you been in a season where it seems you are surrounded by limitless impossibilities? It's as if the architect of hell developed a plan to erect concrete boundaries on every side of your life.
Recently, as I was sitting with the Lord, I heard Him ask me, "Why are you not moving forward?" To which I snapped back, "I can't. He has blocked every road." To which He snapped right back, "That is simply not true. You just don't want to move forward on the path I have provided." Then there was silence. Selah.
In Exodus 15, as the children of Israel were being delivered from the grip of their enemy and guided by the hand of God into their destiny, they were escorted onto the most bewildering path. The route that God had provided to bring them out of who they were and into who He had called them to be was not easily laid out. In front of them was the complete impossibility of the Red Sea. Behind them was the hot pursuit of their enemy. There were no other available detours.
In moments like this, it seems easier and safer to become stagnant. Paralysis caused by being overwhelmed, disappointed or discouraged begins to settle into your feet. Then Doubt and confusion will begin to swirl around stationary callings and destines.
"Did I hear Him correctly?"
"We have to be going in the wrong direction!"
When we have removed the Cross from the center of Christianity, we will interpret impossibilities as a sign to turn around and go the other way.
The Red Sea was not warfare. The Red Sea was the God ordained path to the promise. To move forward would be so hard, but to turn around would be to die.
For the Israelites and for you and me, this will require a massive amount of courage and raw faith in order to move forward. You will need to pick up your feet and step into the ocean of the unknown.
"With Your unfailing love, you will lead the people you have redeemed. In Your might, you guide them to Your sacred home." Exodus 15:19
I hear the General of the Army of God releasing the command, Forward, March! Forward March is a military command. At the sound of this order, the feet of soldiers begin to move in only one direction. They will not cease until ordered otherwise.
Solider of God, keep moving forward no matter what is in front of you. Do not allow the Red Sea to doubt what you heard in the tent. Hold to the Word and keep advancing. It's your job to step into the sea. It's His job to take the wheels off of the enemies' chariots. But He will withhold His part until both feet are in!
"Tell the people to get moving!" Exodus 14:15
Onward Christian Soldiers
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go!
At the sign of triumph Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.
Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never ’gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise, and that cannot fail.
Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King,
